Aghada Presbyterian Church & Trinity Cork Presbyterian Church
Aghada (linked with Trinity Cork),
Sunday Service 10 a.m.
A home mid week bible study is held during winter months.
Background: The core of this East Cork rural congregation was some farming families of Scttish extraction who settled in the area in the late 19th century. From 1899 until 1925 they worshipped in a small corrugated iron building built by a Scottish firm who were introducing the then new technology of corrugated iron. In May 1925 a redundant Church of Ireland 'estate church' was purchased for 100 pounds and this is the present Aghada Presbyterian Church. A very distinctive feature is the old stone font situated at the church entrance.

Following on our use of the Tearfund material 'Just People' we made a commitment to distribute over 100 Christmas presents in the local asylum seekers' hostel. We are hoping for deeper ongoing contact. Some have expressed interest in our English language class and a few in a Bible study.
A new home group studying Christianity Explored has just begun. It is made up of a number of Brazilian people who attend Trinity.
The year 2011 will mark the 150th anniversary of Trinity Church building. We are seeking to plan now to observe this in some significant way that does not stretch our small resources and 'faithful few' over much. One approach we are looking at is to distribute in December 2010 a celebratory calendar for 2011 which will contain the special events and also highlight different aspects of our life and witness.
Repairs: At the moment a major project is to secure the roof, no easy task with the very difficult weather. Our next phase is renovation of the two back rooms at the church with a new wheelchair friendly entrance.
