Philip Whelton: Arklow

How often do you hear the phrase "I’m bored," during the summer months? If you are around young people, then I guarantee you hear it quite a lot. We have heard this man

times during the summer months from those we work with who are too young to get summer work. Because school is out, they have nothing to do. A few days ago while Susan and I were having coffee in Tesco’s some girls came over to us and stayed chatting for ages. They were just wandering around town with nothing to do. It has struck us that there is a need here for a place for young people to go during the school holidays, especially the first few weeks they are off school, where they can meet friends, play sports, do crafts or some community service. Pray with us for God’s direction as to what can be done for us to meet this type of need in the future, as the possibilities are endless..

Our Holiday Bible Club runs from August 4-8. We have close to 200 children coming and about 60 leaders. We ask for prayer regarding God's blessing and protection during this week and that many people will choose to follow Christ. We also pray for all the leaders who give their time for this special week, and we thank God for how He brings all the leaders and helpers together. We pray that they will be encouraged and strengthened in their walk with Jesus as well.
