Irish Mission: Peter Maitland - Cahir
Cahir is a small but growing rural town situated in the gloriously scenic South Tipperary. The town’s long historical background is reflected in an impressive castle situated in the town centre.
The Presbyterian Church also has a long history stretching back over 100yrs of active witness in the town.
At present the fellowship is very small but nonetheless it is a vibrant community of God’s people with a real love for His word and a desire to share it.
We strive to share the truth of God’s word through contact with people on the doors, a regular public Bible study and more recently though a series of public meetings.
For a number of years and until recently we did have a work among the local children but regrettably a lack of leadership meant it couldn’t be sustained.
The main obstacle to the advance of the gospel in this community is the age old problem of apathy; people are just to busy getting on with what they perceive to be important.
Yet we know God to be a patient God and we wait upon His timing to draw His people to himself.
Prayer Requests:
- That families would be drawn to the church.
- For a Christianity Explored course to be launched soon.
- For the ‘vacancy.’ That God would already be calling the man of His choice.
