Cavan Presbyterain churches

Bellasis Presbyterian Church

, Bellasis is the largest of the four churches, lies on the main Cavan-Dublin road, about 15 miles from Cavan town and 3 miles short of Virginia town, and has a small driveway up into the church grounds at one end, or steps up to the church at the other end. This beautiful country church building is situated high on an embankment of neat lawns and graveyard, with a traditional hall alongside and an accompanying well equipped kitchen, from which has been served some wonderful meals for visitors and the congregation. Sunday service time is 10 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday School for the children runs from 10.15 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Cavan Presbyterian Church

Cavan, the second largest of the four churches, is situated along Farnham Street in the town, a beautiful stone building inside traditional Scottish-style railings opposite town Hall Street. Its notice board is easily visible in its neat front lawn with times of service detailed and a warm welcome extended to visitors. The manse is right next door to the church with the Presbyterian emblem, the burning bush, etched on its glass door. The church hall is behind the church and hosts several mealtimes and welcome suppers for various events, the most adventurous to date being the Open Day invitation to a friendly helping of free Soup & Sandwiches for all visitors to the St. Patrick’s Day Parades in the town. Sunday Service time is 11.15 a.m. each Sunday, with Sunday School in the ‘Upper Room for children running from 11.30 a.m. until 12 noon

Croaghan Presbyterian Church

Croaghan is situated on the Newtowngore side of Killeshandra Town, one mile out of town on a sharp lefthand bend. Croaghan is sometimes known as ‘The Church Down By The Riverside’ as the little country building, noted for its simplicity and beauty, is situated on a splendid site bordering the local river and lake. It is surrounded by a freshly pointed stone wall which adds to its looks, and in its grounds lies a neatly kept graveyard and a notice board detaling times of service. Inside, it has a welcoming porch and compact modern kitchen, from which tea and eats are often served after services or other occasions. It is also noted for its two ornate but humble stained glass circular windows which give this little church an unusual touch of design. Sunday service times is 12.30 p.m. on the second and fourth Sundays each month, alternating with her daughter church of Drumkeeran. Sunday School takes place during the church service, after the Children’s Message and Children’s Hymn.

Drumkeeran Presbyterian Church

Drumkeeran is a warm and welcoming little country church alongside a by-road surrounded by a wall with neatly trimmed graveyard with a notice board giving details of times of service and minister. Behind it at one side there is a hall upstairs and a kitchen downstairs which are used for Sunday School and other meetings or social gatherings with cups of tea and eats. Sunday service time is 12. 30 p.m. on the first and third Sundays as it alternates with her mother church of Croaghan. Drumkeeran church is sometimes the most difficult church to find but the general direction on a map is a position between the two local towns of Arvagh and Killeshandra. Drivers from Cavan Town would travel towards Crossdoney Village and turn right for Killeshandra Town but observe after a couple of ’short’ miles a road turning left towards Arvagh. Take that left road towards Arvagh and watch out for the well known Football changing rooms on left at a right bend, after which look out for a road to the right, a short mile further on. Take this small road and keep leftish at the two Ys as you travel and you will see Drumkeeran Church on the left next door to a timber yard. Drivers from Killeshandra town will take the Arvagh road out of the foot of the town and travel for a few miles until they pass Derrylane Church of Ireland Church on right, after which they take a left road (between two houses) and travel downhill, then uphill, then downhill to the church on the right along the road.

Children's Holiday Club in the second week of August, in Ballinagh Town, 11am-3pm

Children's Holiday Club in the last week of August, in Killeshandra 11am- 3pm

Moderator's visit as guest preacher at the Afternoon Summer Praise 4pm in the Cavan HM group of churches, hosted in Carrigallen, the only remaining active Presbyterian church in Co. Leitrim.

No break possible due to vacancy convenership & Summer Clubs in July and August to the very end, so pray for energy & strength to endure, until a minister is called to the Clones group vacancy.

Give thanks for a great Summer Assistant helping in the Clones group until September, which gives ease to convenership visitation duties in that area, and time to complete the Cavan group visitation.
